“Beautifully floral and attractive, ripe apples and pears lead to a complex palate that has a fresh apple flavor with hints of young Calvados, honey and grilled apples to close. Drink now. Screw cap.” – James Suckling
“Rich, textural wine with an almost golden hue. A full-bodied and impressively weighty white with honey, pear, quince, vanilla, and spicy oak flavors. A distinctive and very complex wine, with a glycerol-like viscosity and very lengthy finish. Very different. A pleasure to taste.” – Bob Campbell MW
“Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is full and rounded with broad and mouth-filling flavors of ripe yellow stonefruits melded with savory honied notes, lifted yellow florals, and a complexing layer of nuts and minerals. The mouthfeel is plush and decadent with the up-front flavors forming a wounded heart. The fruit is underlined by soft textures with integrated acidity, and the flavors carry to a long, well-driven, softly rich finish. This is a rich and opulent, mouth-filling dryish Pinot Gris/Pinot Blanc blend with ripe stonefruit, honey and floral flavors with complexing nutty notes in the Alsace style.”– Raymond Chan
“The distinctly Alsace-like 2015 vintage was hand-picked at Rapaura, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (10 percent new). Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it is pale gold, with a gently honeyed bouquet. Weighty (14.5 percent alcohol), it is fleshy, peachy, spicy and – again – vaguely honeyed on the palate, with complexity, a slightly oily richness and a smooth, very harmonious finish. Delicious drinking now onwards.” – Michael Cooper
Tasting Note: Immediately complex aromatics: yellow plum, ripe quince, borage honey, polenta/milled corn, and an enlivening iodine/seashore note. With air, richer and broader, while remaining multifaceted. Also a clean, wet copper coin character. Engaging and seductive. On the palate, opulent and gregarious, lush but detailed, flattering, but in a considered way. Yellow plum and honey again, acacia this time. Also a buttery, puff pastry/croissant character. Luxurious, indulgent, but sage, this is the gnostic siren in our range of wines.
